I love to capture a person's essence when painting them. To me, portraiture does not follow a formula, but rather begins with looking at the person and creating a gestural drawing before honeing in on the features and nuances that make them unique from others. In my paintings, I strive to capture the unique beauty of each individual I portray by using gestural drawing to capture the essence of the individual and highlighting those special details that make him or her unique.
